Aron #0304

The pre-evolution of Lairon and Aggron, Aron are quite a good battling Pokémon, one all-out charge can demolish a heavy garbage truck. This also makes them a poor candidate for a starter Pokémon, unfortunately.

Aron use the metal they eat to make their protective shell, so it's important that a battling Aron eats plenty. After evolving, they abandon their previous shell which is often salvaged for making metal products.

Food

Aron feed on metals, specifically iron, but can get away with eating other metals. In the wild, they eat iron ore that they dig from mountains. Occasionally, if a wild Aron is hungry enough it will come down from their mountain homes to eat bridges and rails. Living in Anville Town means I get called to deal with Aron eating the rails on a regular basis.

Grooming and Maintenance

Aron are fairly low maintenance, with feeding being the most important maintenance activity. They are constantly repairing their shell by eating so rust and tarnish isn't much of a problem, though you may want to check the Tarnish and Rust care guide, just in case.

Ranking

Ranking System

rank 2
Although they are small and easy to find, Aron are not the best starter Pokémon. They can cause a lot of trouble and their evolutions, Lairon and Aggron, are both quite large. If you intend to focus on battling, though, Aron is a decent enough choice.
